APVRS TANO Travel Grant

Introduction and Objectives

The APVRS TANO travel grant is set up in honor and in memory of the Founding President of the Asia-Pacific Vitreo-retina Society (APVRS), Professor Yasuo Tano. The aim of the APVRS TANO Travel Grant is to provide partial travel support to up and coming young ophthalmologists in the field of vitreo-retina in the Asia-Pacific region to attend the APVRS congress. This is an integral part of APVRS’s effort to further the training and education of young ophthalmologists in the Asia-Pacific region.

Details of the Travel Grant

  • Up to 5 travel grants per congress (subject to funding availability);
  • Financial support: US$ 250 and US$ 500 for applicants from host and non-host countries respectively;
  • Registration fee: waived.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Ophthalmologists of the Asia-Pacific region who are aged 40 or below;
  • Applicants should have presentations (oral, poster, or video) accepted for the scientific program of the APVRS congress to be attended;
  • Priority will be given to applicants from economic less well-off countries;
  • Recipients of previous APAVRS TANO Travel Grant will have lower priority.

Selection Committee

A selection committee composed of the following members will screen and select the awardees. The results will be reported to the APVRS Council at the APRVS Council meeting.

Convener: Scientific Secretary
Members: APVRS Congress President or his representative
               APVRS Secretary-General or his representative

Key Selection Criteria

  • Scientific merits of the presentation;
  • Economic status of the country.

Application Procedures

  • DOWNLOAD and complete the application form;
  • Email or fax the application back to the Secretariat before the deadline;
  • Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Deadline for Application

The deadline for application will be August 1, 2011.
